Senior Te Reo Maori Class and T-Rap
Thursday 15th August 2025
We would like to acknowledge the Thames Rangatahi Advisory Panel (TRAP) for their leadership, energy, and presence at the event. Ro Mitchell-Te Teira and her team continue to play an important role in amplifying youth voice across Hauraki.
During the summit, our own, Gustav Van-Niekerk, had the special opportunity to ask Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke about her powerful experience performing the haka in Parliament. This moment truly resonated with the young people present and quickly became a highlight of the day, along with their group selfie.
Hana-Rawhiti was a clear rangatahi favourite, alongside guest speakers Jess Tyson, and Jase Williams, who also inspired our youth with their kōrero, honesty, and commitment to uplifting Māori voices.
We acknowledge T-RAP for creating a platform where our rangatahi can connect, be heard, and be inspired by influential Māori role models doing incredible mahi across Aotearoa.

Year 10 Te Reo Māori – Hauraki Cultural Festival & Ahurei ki Rangiriri
Our Year 10 Te Reo Māori students enjoyed an inspiring day attending the Hauraki Cultural Festival at Kerepehi Marae and the Ahurei ki Rangiriri event. The day began with a warm and welcoming pōwhiri at Kerepehi Marae, where students experienced the mana and richness of local tikanga in action.
A special acknowledgement goes to Kaiya Tai and Shylah-Faye Rapana, who supported their Marae throughout the entire day, demonstrating leadership, service, and manaakitanga.
Whaea Kahmil and Whaea Q accompanied the students as they embraced the beautiful weather, browsed kai stalls, and enjoyed performances from local kapa haka groups. Students also deepened their understanding of local history and cultural practice while engaging with both events.
It was a meaningful day of connection, celebration, and learning for all ākonga involved.
