A joint initiative between the Hauraki Plains Community and Hauraki Plains College has enabled an Academy of Agriculture to be established beginning 2003.

Students learn skills required to obtain the National Certificate in Agriculture at Level 2. They spend two days in the classroom followed by three days on selected farms to gain valuable practical experience.
This operates for two full terms of a normal school year and holidays.

The course is designed to give young people a direct pathway into a career in agriculture, gaining NZQA qualifications and into employment in the farming industry.

The Academy has been developed with the support of DEXCEL and Agriculture Industry Training Organisation.
