Sports
Hauraki Plains College is nationally recognised for its outstanding sporting achievements and opportunities in a large variety of sports. This is possible through the enormous commitment of teachers, parents and the wider community to coaching and supporting sports teams. We are also fortunate to have extensive facilities including a fully equipped gym and weights room, large grassed fields for athletics, rugby, soccer and cricket and numerous courts for netball and tennis. Excellent on-site rowing facilities and a handy all-weather hockey turf are particular features. Other popular sports include golf, equestrian, badminton, swimming, basketball, Shooting, Motocross, Cross country and Touch rugby.
Education Outside the Classroom
We have a comprehensive Education Outside the Classroom programme which operates from Years 9 to 13. Field trips, camping, outdoor pursuits such as hiking, bush craft and water sports and leadership training are aspects of the programme.
Cultural Arts
We are very committed to fostering cultural and performing arts within the College and are currently planning to build a modern Performing Arts facility. Hauraki Plains College administers the Waikato Itinerant Music Service which employs around twenty music teachers to enable our and other young people around the Waikato to enjoy free and regular instrumental and vocal tuition.
Other cultural opportunities include Drama, choir, school magazine, Kapa Haka, and debating.
