FORUMS FOR PARTICIPATION

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees play an active governance role in the life of the school. Trustees liaise closely with the community and consult widely. They welcome your feedback and discussion on any issues relevant to the life of the school. The Board of Trustee meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month.

Student Council

Each whanau class is represented by an elected member on the Student Council. The Student Council provides a forum for students to discuss issues and provide feedback to senior management. The Student Council meets twice per term and is chaired by the Head Boy and Head Girl.

 

Parent Council

The Parent Council provides opportunities for parents to share concerns, provide feedback and contribute to HPC as a learning community. The key tasks of the Parent Council are to:

  • Provide a local contact person and advocate for parents
  • Pass on concerns to Principal or Board
  • Provide feedback on College practices and policies

The Parent Council meets once per term.

Sports Council

The strong participation and outstanding achievement in Sports at Hauraki Plains College is based on the active involvement of our school community. The Sports Council ensures that this continues by providing a forum for effective communication and shared decision making opportunities. The key tasks of the Sports Council are:

  • To act as an umbrella organisation for all HPC sporting codes and activities
  • To encourage participation and achievement in Sport from students, parents and the wider school community
  • To ensure effective communication regarding all sporting endeavours
  • To ensure standards and expectations are consistent across all sporting codes as per Hauraki Plains College handbook
  • To receive written nominations for sports awards
  • To co-ordinate Sponsorship requirements
  • To provide a forum for the expression of concerns

The Sports Council meets annually. The Sports Co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring ongoing communications.

Whanau Liaison

Mrs Moana Te Moananui provides a liaison role with our Maori and Pacific Island community.
