PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR
ENROLMENT AS A FEE PAYING STUDENT
AT
HAURAKI PLAINS COLLEGE

 

  1. The application form together with the latest school reports, examination results, testimonials and homestay student profile are to be forwarded to Hauraki Plains College.
  2. A non refundable deposit of two hundred and fifty dollars (NZ$250.00) is required to be advanced with each application.
  3. The Dean of International Students will advise of the decision.
  4. If accepted, an invoice for the balance of the year's fees will be enclosed.
  5. Fees should be paid by Bank Cheque in favour of Hauraki Plains College.
  6. On receipt of the fee, the official "Offer of a Place" form and receipt will be forwarded to the student.
  7. The student uses these documents to obtain a Student Permit and Visa.
  8. If homestay accomodation has been requested, details of the address, homestay family will be forwarded.
  9. If an airport pickup is requested, the student should advise the College of travel arrangements (date, time, flight number)
  10. It is compulsory for all international students to have medical and travel insurance (Section 7.4 of the Code of Practice).

 Health and Travel Insurance: Most students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand unless they are:

If you do not belong to one of these special categories and you receive medical treatment during your visit, you will be liable for the full costs of that treatment. We strongly recommend that you have insurance that will cover the cost of medical treatment in New Zealand for the duration of your stay in in New Zealand. We also strongly recommend that you obtain insurance to cover your travel to and from New Zealand.

Immigration: Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.immigration.govt.nz

 

 Hauraki Plains College has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz
