LEARNING PROGRAMMES

YEAR 9 & YEAR 10 - JUNIOR DIPLOMA OF LEARNING

Our Junior Diploma of Learning has earned a Goodman Fielder School of the Year Merit Award. The Diploma encourages academic excellence and provides a focus for all junior students to achieve to their potential in the classroom. Each term, credits are awarded to students as they achieve specific learning and self-management goals.

To be awarded the diploma, students must gain 2/3 of available credits over Years 9 and 10. In order to encourage students to strive for academic excellence, a Diploma with Merit is awarded for students who gain a grade average of between 70 and 79, and a Diploma with Excellence is awarded to those students who achieve a grade average of 80 or more. Term-by-term updates and close monitoring keeps students and parents informed of progress throughout the Years 9 and 10.

All Year 9 students take the full range of subjects and modules. At Year 10, students are given some choice within the Learning Areas.

GATEWAY

The Gateway Programme has been established to support students in finding a purposeful direction for the future which is appropriate to their unique talents and interests. There are three different opportunities under the Gateway programme:

  • Work experience which offers opportunities to experience different work environments and explore possible career directions
  • Work based learning enables opportunities for students to learn in the ‘real world’ in an industry or workplace appropriate to a student’s interests
  • Academy of Agriculture is a half year, full time course which offers two days in the classroom and three days on farms to complete the Certificate in Agriculture (Level 2). Most students go on from the Academy of Agriculture into full-time employment on a farm.
