Education Outside the Classroom
We appreciate the diversity and richness of human potential and believe that students who have an opportunity to develop their talents and interests outside the classroom are more likely to engage positively in their learning. Outdoor Education is also a subject offered at Years 11, 12 and 13. Learning experiences outside the classroom also contribute to the development of character, skill competencies and a sense of community as expressed in the framing of our river charter.
Extensive use of field trips, camping experiences and a diverse range of sporting, cultural
and leadership opportunities complement learning in the classroom. Alongside gaining NCEA
qualifications, our aim is to be a school where all young people leave having identified and
developed talents, skills and interests through which they can become all they were meant to
be.
