General Information

School hours
The school day is from 8:40-3:20 pm, Monday to Friday with interval at 11:00-11:25 am and lunchtime from 1:30 to 2:25 pm.

Uniform
It is a condition of attending Hauraki Plains College that the correct uniform is worn and students are expected to maintain a high standard of dress and personal presentation at all times. The HPC Prospectus has further information with regard to uniform.

Attendance
Absence for ill health, medical or dental appointments and family bereavements require an
explanation from parents / caregivers. We appreciate parents phoning in and leaving a message on any day your child is absent.

School Activities Donation
The School Activities donation is set each year by the Board of Trustees. The school relies on this donation to subsidise equipment for clubs, sports, library resources, the school magazine, guest speakers as well as to support sporting and cultural activities. Currently the amount is $100 per child, $150 for two or more pupils in the family.

Subject Material Fees
This is charged in those subjects where there is a 'take home' or 'keep' component of materials. The fee covers the cost of such materials. This information is providing in the Junior and Senior Subject Guides.

Textbooks
Textbooks are supplied by the school and issued to students on loan. All new students to the college are required to pay a once-only textbook deposit of $20 which is refundable upon leaving school. If students wilfully or carelessly damage textbooks, however, they are expected to pay for the damage.

Stationery
The school operates a stationery shop which makes all stationery requirements available at
competitive prices. The stationery shop is open daily on school days.

Sports Fees
Students participating in sports teams are required to pay fees to offset costs. Newsletters provide information regarding sports fees during the school year.

School Policies
The Board of Trustees has a full range of policies designed to effectively govern Hauraki Plains College. Policies and Guidelines are available on the college website.

Out of Zone Enrolments
Hauraki Plains College has an enrolment zone in place. A ballot is held normally once per year for out of zone enrolments. Please contact the principal, Ngaire Harris, for further information.
