Parent Forum
The Parent Forum takes place each term and provides an opportunity for parents and whanau to meet with the Principal and BOT representative. The Parent Forum focuses on:

  • Consultation with parents on student learning and the schools strategic direction
  • Discussion and feedback on issues, practices and policies
  • Workshops for parents with an emphasis on supporting young people in their learning and college life

Student Council
The Student Council is made up of elected representatives from each River group. The Student Council encourages students to discuss issues and provide feedback to the Principal and the Board of Trustees. Each year the Student Council participates in an improvement initiative within the college or wider community.

Sports Council
The Sports Council is made up of representatives from each sporting code. The key tasks of the Sports Council are to:

  • Promote student participation in co-curricular sports
  • Decide direction and policy related to sports
  • Enhance sporting opportunities for students

Whanau hui
Each term, a whanau hui is held for students and parents to celebrate successes, learn about and discuss challenges and opportunities in a face to face informal setting.

The Haurakian
The Haurakian is an active organisation for past pupils and friends of Ngatea District High School and Hauraki Plains College. The Haurakian exists to keep past pupils, staff and community connected to the college. Regular newsletters ensures up to date information is available. The Haurakians are working towards the 100 year celebration of the founding of Hauraki Plains College in 2012.

Haurakian Charitable Trust
The Haurakian Charitable Trust has been established to support the continuing development of the college by providing cultural, recreational and educational opportunities and resources. To date the Trust has purchased a farm and other land as well as assisting with financial contributions to the college.
